The Great (Mom) Resignation
In today’s episode, motherhood wellness expert Alyson Hempsey does a deep dive into the term, “The Great Resignation” along with women’s health expert and pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Marcy Crouch. Together they talk about what the term means and how it has specifically affected mothers across the United States.
A total of 48 million people quit their jobs in 2021 according to EdSmart. For mothers especially, balancing work and raising children has always been difficult; however, the pandemic brought it to new heights and presented a whole new set of complexities.
In this episode, we talk about the various reasons why mothers left the workforce, including lack of child care, managing work from home, and limited employer support. Let’s face it, simply being a mom is a full-time job, and if the pandemic taught us anything it’s that mothers are essential.
The fact of the matter is, there needs to be better options to support working moms if we want to continue to see them in the workplace. Tune in to this week’s episode to hear more.
