Brandi is here to share with us everything you need to know about doulas, from the history of doulas, what they do to support birthing and postpartum persons, and how to find the right one for you.
Brandi gives it to us straight: whatever you *think* you know about doulas, probably isn’t true. They aren’t all potions and crystals (though, some totally are, if you’re into that). The fact of the matter is: doulas are there to support YOU. Not the baby, not the doctor, YOU, the birthing person, and whatever it is that you need. They are not medical professionals (like a midwife), but, they ARE extremely educated and trained on supporting a birthing person’s needs. From helping you get into comfortable positions during labor, to advocating for your wishes during the labor process, to even being a postpartum support person in the weeks after giving birth. And yes, you can totally use a doula if you have a c-section.
